The American Legion Comes to Baltimore

The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Baltimore on Greene Street.

In this hour we take a look at issues impacting America’s veterans. We get an update from Baltimore Sun reporter, Yvonne Wenger, on progress lowering wait times at Baltimore’s Veterans Affairs office. Back in 2013 the office was found to be the slowest in the country at processing disability claims for servicemen and women. Then we speak to Lou Celli, director of the American Legion’s Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Division, and Joe Sharpe, director of the Legion’s Employment and Education Division, about the challenges that veterans face as they transition back to civilian life.

Baltimore Dirt Bike Debate

In this hour of the show, we tackle the ongoing debate over dirt bikes in Baltimore. Are they a public menace and, if so, what should be done about them? Riding dirt bikes on Baltimore’s streets is illegal, but their appearance has been a Sunday ritual for years. For the past two Sundays, police have been able to shut down Reisterstown Road to block the dirt-bikers from their weekly show of wheelies and weaving that attracts large crowds.
