Jonna McKone


Jonna covers education, youth and housing for WYPR.   She's also a documentarian, media artist and educator. Her stories and audio documentaries have been broadcast on All Things Considered, Here and Now, Marketplace, The World, Living on Earth, WAMU and Virginia Public Radio.  In 2014 Jonna was awarded an Equal Voice Journalism Fellowship.  A Maryland native, Jonna is a graduate of Bowdoin College and holds an MFA from Duke University.

Maryland’s commission on medical marijuana is still at least a  month away from final regulations and taking applications – but a medical-marijuana industry is beginning to take shape in the Free State, as entrepreneurs who want to grow and sell cannabis look for a toe-hold.  We talk to a reporter who’s been covering it.

Then – The role of citizens in preserving American freedom.  We listen back to Tom Hall’s talk with the former Chief Judge of Maryland’s highest court, Robert Bell, and historian and author Dr. Jean Baker.
