Dating Violence

Feb 26, 2014

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly three in 10 women and one in 10 men have experienced rape, physical violence or stalking by a partner.

UVA star lacrosse player and Maryland native Yeardley Love died at the hands of her ex-boyfriend in 2010.

For young  adults and teens, date violence profoundly effects how they develop emotionally. Our guests: Sharon Love of Cockeysville, mother of Yeardley Love, the University of Virginia lacrosse player who was murdered in 2010 by her ex-boyfriend. Sharon Love talks about that tragedy and date violence and about her advocacy organization, One Love Foundation. Also: Nancy Glass, associate professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and a domestic violence expert, and Brian Pinero, co-director of the National Domestic Abuse Hotline and the National Dating Abuse Helpline.
