In an effort to reduce the number of unnecessary tests and treatments that inflate health-care costs, some prestigious medical groups have joined the "Choosing Wisely" campaign, which recommends that American doctors weigh the costs, not only the effectiveness, of treatments for their patients. Our guest: Dr. Barry Meisenberg, an oncologist and leader in quality-of-care innovations at Anne Arundel Medical Center; he says patients are not served by adding expense for the expectation of little clinical benefit.
