Jay Gillen is a founding teacher-director of the Stadium School in Baltimore City. In a new book, he indicts an educational system that he says is stacked against poor and disadvantaged students. How do we change that? Encourage students to organize and rebel. The book is called “Educating for Insurgency: The Roles of Young People in Schools of Poverty.”
Gillen will be speaking about the book on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Red Emma’s on North Avenue in Baltimore. More info here.
