Ferguson & Child Immigration Crisis

Aug 26, 2014

David Miller of the Urban Leadership Institute in Baltimore talks about the Michael Brown funeral and the aftermath of his death in Ferguson, Mo., Baltimore and the rest of the nation. Plus, follow up on the immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border with Megan McKenna, advocacy director for KIND (Kids in Need of Defense), a group that provides legal representation for the unaccompanied children who have crossed the border; George Escobar, director of health and human services at CASA de Maryland, where nearly 3,000 children are expected to be sheltered -- and many enrolled in public schools -- as they await deportation hearings; and Dr. Barbara Cook, medical director for The Access Partnership (TAP) and a congregant of Brown Memorial Park Avenue Presbyterian Church.

Undocumented child immigrants continue to spill over the U.S. border, often fleeing gang violence in their native countries.
