Last month, the World Health Organization reported that antibiotic-resistant bacteria is “a problem so serious that it threatens the achievements of modern medicine.” A look at the origins of this problem and what it could mean for global public health with Midday contributor Dr. John Cmar, infectious diseases specialist at Sinai Hospital and the head of the hospital's Antibiotic Stewardship Committee. 

Due to sub-therapeutic use of antibiotics in livestock, bacteria are becoming antibiotic-resistant.
