The Maryland Film Festival-WYPR Spotlight Series continued earlier this week with a screening of a documentary film called Brasslands. The film tells the story of a band from New York that plays traditional music of the Balkans and details their journey to a majorannual trumpet festival in Serbia.
Host Tom Hall spoke with the film’s director after the screening at Falvey Hall at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
The director, Bryan Chang, happens to also be one of the founders of the Meerkat Media Collective. Chang talks about the Collective’s latest movie and their unorthodox approach to film making.
