Sex Ed

How do you talk to your teens about sex? How do you encourage them to be safe and to look for answers in the right places, especially in this Internet age? We continue our look at teen pregnancy and adolescent health with a conversation about sex education. Deborah Roffman, author of “Talk to Me First", shares what she’s learned in her 40 years as a human sexuality educator for elementary through high school students. Plus, we hear from a peer educator from Planned Parenthood about how to talk to high schoolers about relationships and making healthy choices.

Maureen Harvie is Senior Supervising Producer for On the Record. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and joined WYPR in 2014 as an intern for the newsroom. Whether coordinating live election night coverage, capturing the sounds of a roller derby scrimmage, interviewing veterans, or booking local authors, she is always on the lookout for the next story.
