UPDATE: The Winter Weather Advisory that had been issued for this morning is now over. At least for the Baltimore area. The National Weather Service has rescinded the advisory – a forecast that prompted a handful of Central Maryland public school systems to open late. The advisory remains in effect through 1 o’clock this afternoon for Caroline, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot Countieson the Eastern Shore, where up to an inch of snow and sleet could fall today. Schools in those three Shore counties were closed today.

It's promising to be another messy morning commute across parts of Maryland. The National Weather Service has Baltimore and points south under a winter weather advisory until noon.

Baltimore and areas along the I-95 corridor are expected to get less than an inch of snow and sleet. Areas north of the city aren’t likely to see much if any accumulation. But parts of Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties could get 1 to 2 inches of accumulation. More is possible on the other side of the Chesapeake Bay.

Public schools are CLOSED in: Caroline CountyQueen Anne's County, and Talbot County.

And public schools are on a two hour delay in: Anne ArundelCounty, Howard County, Kent County, Montgomery County, and Prince George's County.

WYPR's Morning Edition news anchor Ashley Sterner serves up the latest Maryland news and weather every weekday morning, delightfully interspersed with the occasional snarky comment.
