Journal Club Meeting – Sports-Related Brain Injuries and Children's Mental Health
This JCS Institute for Professional Development session will feature a critical discussion on the impact of sports-related brain injuries, focusing on concussions and CTE, and their potential link to mental health issues like self-harm and suicide in youth athletes, particularly in football. We will examine the developmental vulnerabilities of children and adolescents, the long-term effects of brain injuries, and explore how to integrate trauma-informed care and brain injury prevention into social work practice at all levels. Participants will analyze recent research and apply findings to enhance clinical practice. This session offers 1.0 Category I CEUs.
