Join the Towson University Choral Society for its annual Spring Concert — an inspiring evening of music celebrating hope, strength, and the power of the human spirit, featuring Rollo Dilworth’s stirring Weather: Stand the Storm.
Choral Society is a non-auditioned choir open to all Towson University undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the Towson and Baltimore communities who share a love for singing.
Each semester, the choir performs a diverse repertoire, ranging from classical and folk traditions to gospel and Broadway selections. Choral Society frequently collaborates with other TU choirs and ensembles, with past performances including Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Ariel Ramírez’s Misa Criolla.
More than just a choir, Choral Society is a welcoming and vibrant community. As one member beautifully put it, “There is magic in the collaboration and fellowship when people sing together.”
Based on the beloved Newbery Medal- and National Book Award-winning novel—and the hit 2003 film starring Shia LaBeouf, Sigourney Weaver, and Jon Voight—this theatrical adaptation is a thrilling ride for audiences of all ages. When teenager Stanley Yelnats is hit by a pair of falling sneakers, his unlucky family curse strikes again. Wrongly convicted of stealing the sneakers and sent to the mysterious Camp Green Lake, Stanley joins a ragtag group of boys digging endless holes under the blistering sun—all in the name of building character. But as the layers of dirt pile up, so do the secrets buried beneath them. Part mystery, part adventure, and packed with heart, Holes is a wildly imaginative tale about friendship, fate, and the courage it takes to rewrite your story. Holes is “a fast-paced and inventive family show that works on every level” (The Stage).

Profs and Pints Baltimore presents: “The Happiness Workshop,” a look at what recent research and centuries of wisdom tell us about bringing more joy and contentment to our lives, with Eric Zillmer, professor of psychology and the director of the Happiness Lab at Drexel University.
[Doors open at 3. The talk starts at 4:30. The room is open seating.]
Are you happy? If not, how do you get there?
Gain insights into happiness with Eric Zillmer, an award-winning teacher who leads a creative think tank that investigates the ingredients for happiness among individual people and communities.
You’ll learn how the study of happiness is a growing, evidence-based field known as positive psychology, which aims to find solutions to happiness challenges that can bring positive change to our lives and environments.
Dr. Zillmer will discuss the meaning of happiness and its place in our lives and society. He’ll draw from recent science and great thinkers in discussing how we can increase our own happiness and well-being, throwing out a few practical tips as well.
He’ll talk about whether happiness can be measured and where in our brain happiness is located. We’ll look at the influence of socializing and social media on our happiness and about the roles that music, humor, adversity, and regret have in happiness research.
Dr. Zillmer will discuss what we learn about happiness from competitive sports, and he’ll suggest ten actions that you can engage in that will make you happier.
Among the questions he’ll tackle: What is the happiest day of the week? Can a specific place make you happy? What can we learn about happiness from travelling the world? (Advance tickets: $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Doors: $17, or $15 with a student ID.)
