Greater Baltimore Medical Center is plotting a nearly $80 million expansion to its Towson complex, joining dozens of other hospitals across Maryland planning major facelifts.
Dr. John Chessare, CEO of the GBMC HealthCare system, said the hospital is planning a "necessary" three-story addition that will include a 30-bed medicine unit on the top floor, an adult intensive care unit and a new grand entrance. The project is in the planning and design phase. The hospital plans to launch a capital campaign to raise about $30 million of the needed funds, Chessare said. The remaining $50 million will come from bond sales.
