Royal Farms is taking its famous fried chicken box beyond the gas station.
The Baltimore-based chain plans to join Federal Hill's Cross Street Market with a stall selling fried chicken, sandwiches, Western fries and an array of other sides. The stall will introduce a new Royal Farms concept focused exclusively on food service, and will not be accompanied by convenience store items. The historic market at 1065 S. Charles St. is preparing to reopen after an $8.5 million renovation that gutted the market's interior, added more communal seating and reopened windows that had long ago been sealed off with concrete. The market's new design is sprinkled with retro touches, like neon signage and black-and-white tiling.
