A dockless vehicle company co-founded by Olympian Usain Bolt and new to Baltimore will join three existing companies as the city's first fully permitted scooter and bike vendors.
Lime, Bolt, Spin and Jump will begin operating under the new annual permits Thursday after a nearly year-long pilot program sought to determine how the vehicles should be integrated into Baltimore's transportation system. Bird, active in the city since last summer, did not receive one of the four permits. The new Dockless Vehicle Program was made official earlier this year with the passing of a City Council bill. It allowed for the creation of a competitive application process to determine which companies would be awarded one of the four available permits. A total of seven applications were submitted and the four companies with the highest scoring applications were selected.
