After struggling for months to find a new lead sponsor, the Inner Harbor Ice Rink will return this winter thanks to a $115,000 grant from the Joseph & Harvey Meyerhoff Family Charitable Funds.
The one-time grant will allow the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore to continue to operate the rink this winter while developing "a long-term plan" that ensures the rink remains open for years to come. Pandora, which has its U.S. headquarters at 250 W. Pratt St., had sponsored the ice rink since its inaugural 2014 season but decided not to renew its contract for 2019. Last month, the Waterfront Partnership warned that if it couldn't find a new lead sponsor by September, the rink would not open for a sixth season. Over the past four seasons, the ice rink has drawn more than 65,000 visitors to its location at the top of the amphitheater between the two Harborplace pavilions.
