The new owner of Canton's Cardinal Tavern is a seasoned veteran of the neighborhood's bar scene. Alice Kistner, the former co-owner of Mahaffey's Pub on Dillon Street, is moving on to a new project. She recently purchased the Cardinal Tavern and plans to reopen the neighborhood bar next week. One of Kistner's first changes to the tavern was to repaint its cardinal-red doors with a shade of teal. But she said she plans to keep the Cardinal's community-focused, corner-bar vibe alive. "I just want it to be a fun, welcoming pub that you can come to every day," she said.
