Jon Huntsman has served as both Governor of Utah and ambassador to China. He'll be in Maryland for the Baltimore Speaker Series next week. We talk with him in advance about China's position in world politics.
When President Obama named Huntsman, a Republican, ambassador to China five years ago, many of us knew little about him, except that he’d been governor of Utah. Turns out Huntsman's knowledge of China and its Mandarin language goes back further. In the late 70s and early 80s, he was a Mormon missionary in Taiwan, and lived there again with his family when he was an officer of the Huntsman family business.
Ambassador Huntsman will speak next Tuesday at the Meyerhoff as part of the Baltimore Speakers Series presented by Stevenson University. Here, he talks with Sheilah Kast about the relationship between the US and China.
