The General Assembly considered several bills to change implementation of the Common Core State Standards—or as Maryland refers to it—the ‘Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.’ Only three bills passed.
Gov. O’Malley is expected to sign one of those bills this morning-HB 1164.
To talk about which bills passed and which bills died, Sheilah is joined by GlynisKazanjian, staff writer for The Maryland Reporter. We also hear from Sean Johnson, Assistant Executive Director of Political and Legislative Affairs with the Maryland State Education Association.
And to talk about the impact of these bills upon students' education, Sheilah is joined by John White, Chief of Staff for The Maryland State Department of Education.
You can read more of Kazanjian's reporting here.
