It’s a truism that the holidays can be hard for people who have recently lost a loved one. Knowing that doesn’t tell us how to help, whether we ourselves are grieving, or someone we care about.
The title of one of the books by bereavement counselor Beth Hewett is titled, More Good Words: Practical Activities for Mourning. The first word, "more", makes sense because Hewett titled an earlier book, Good Words: Memorializing Through a Eulogy. But it’s the second part of the title that grabbed our attention: “Practical Activities for Mourning.”
Beth Hewett, an adjunct professor at University of Maryland University College as well as a facilitator of grief workshops and support groups, joined Sheilah in the studio to talk about it.
