Teen Pregnancy in Baltimore

Gwendolyn Glenn

While Baltimore’s rate of teen pregnancy dropped by a third from 2009 to 2013, the city’s rate is still about twice that of the state. In this hour, Baltimore City Health Commissioner Leana Wen fills us in on how the city is working to reduce teen pregnancy and promote safe-sex practices. We’ll also hear from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health researchers Kristin Mmari and Beth Marshall on the negative consequences stemming from teen births and hear how the health of Baltimore teens compares to their peers around the globe. And, we'll learn about the child care program at Benjamin Franklin High School and meet a teen mom from Brooklyn Park.
