A festival brings Baltimore together to empower women and girls

A myriad of emotions — from dancing, jumping up and down in excitement and even crying — filled the Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women (BLSYW) gymnasium for seniors as they committed to the university of their choice. Photo by Wambui Kamau/WYPR.

A myriad of emotions — from dancing, jumping up and down in excitement and even crying — filled the Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women (BLSYW) gymnasium for seniors as they committed to the university of their choice.

This weekend, the Women of the World Festival touches down in Baltimore. The event is presented by Notre Dame of Maryland University and seeks to place a spotlight on empowering women and girls while enlightening attendees on the unique challenges they face.

Joining Midday to discuss the festival is WOW Foundation Founder Jude Kelly and WOW Global Ambassador India Gary-Martin.
