Ruth Franklin examines how Anne Frank's story has been told, and coopted, through history

Author photo by Anthony Delmundo.

The journalist and author Ruth Franklin’s latest book is an imaginative look at the life of the young Jewish girl whose diary remains the quintessential work of literature on the Holocaust.

The Many Lives of Anne Frank explores how the teenager evolved in the public imagination from diarist to international icon. Franklin follows the story of Frank’s journals of her years in hiding, and how they came to be revised and eventually published.
