GOP has chance at winning seat in deep blue state that Democrats need to win to keep slim majority.

The 68-year-old congressman is locked in a tight Democratic primary race with Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks.

The Prince George’s County executive would be the first Black woman to represent Maryland in the U.S. Senate.

“Hogan won’t win this one,” Alsobrooks said.

Each of the Democratic frontrunners would face a tight showdown against Republican front-runner Gov. Larry Hogan, the poll found.

“We always say when you want to have people who want to move up [in] elected office to actually accomplish things, you look at mayors and county executives, as we've been where the rubber meets the road,” said Mayor Scott.
