"Information Doesn’t Want to Be Free: Laws for the Internet Age"

From Taylor Swift and Spotify to Amazon and Hachette, there is a tension between creators and distributors that is a direct result of the ease with which creative work can now be transmitted and shared. Tom's guest guest is Cory Doctorow.  He’s the former European Director of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the co-founder of the U.K. Open Rights Group.  He blogs on and edits a well-known website called Boing Boing and he’s written books for both young readers and adults.  If you think that pondering the vagaries of copyright law is a boring endeavor, we encourage you to read Cory Doctorow’s new book.  It’s called Information Doesn’t Want to Be Free: Laws for the Internet Age.

It is chock full of insights into how the internet operates, and how creative people can and should use the web to reach their audiences. He joins Tom from London to talk about it.

Cory Doctorow will be talking about the book at Red Emma’s Bookstore in Baltimore's Station North Arts and Entertainment District on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Host, Midday (M-F 12:00-1:00)
