Some breaking news now from 200 years ago. It’s September 12th, 1814. Baltimoreans have been growing increasingly nervous as a swarming tide of RED menaces the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, moving slowly and steadily toward the city. Now, the enemy is within firing range of Baltimore. Fells Point Town Crier Jack Trautwein has the rest of the story from Fells Point Square, told two days later.
Trautwein is shouting the news of the day from 1814 every day at 2:00 p.m. until September 18th in Fells Point Square. And, you can hear some of our past coverage of the War of 1812 here and here.
