Despite relentless efforts by the Republican-led Congress to repeal, replace, kill or cripple Obamacare, the Affordable Care Actremains the law of the land. But President Trump recently issued executive orders targeting key elements of the program: in particular, he halted the insurance-company subsidies that help reduce premiums for low income Americans. Now, just days before the start of the 2018 Open Enrollment Season (November 1-December 15, 2017), a bi-partisan effort is underway in Congress to restore those subsidies, and shore up the nation's troubled insurance marketplace. But it's not clear when, or if, the measure will come to a vote.
