Steven Pearson spends a lot of time hanging other people’s art on gallery walls. He’s an art professor at McDaniel College, and he directs the Prangley Rice Gallery on campus there in Westminster, Maryland. Now it’s his turn for the spotlight. In Baltimore, School 33 Art Center has just opened a solo exhibition by Steven Pearson titled, Self Reflection. As you’re about to hear, Pearson has managed to squeeze his entire painting career into just a few, stunning, abstract images. Producer Aaron Henkin has the story.
It started thirteen years ago as a grassroots open-mic and jam session on Tuesday nights in a basement on Saratoga Street, and it’s grown into a Baltimore institution. The long-running music showcase, Organic Soul Revolution, takes the stage again Tuesday January 27th at the Downtown Cultural Art Center, and the line-up is packed with talented performers.
